Join the CEO of the world's largest retail corporation as he struggles to keep the business thriving amid competition and internal conflicts in Alfred E. Johnson Jr.'s new book, "War-Mart World" (published by AuthorHouse -- http://www.authorhouse.com).
War-Mart CEO Benjamin A. Goodfellow is attempting to bring the company out of its recent lackadaisical performance and back to the dynamic stock growth and profits delivered by his aggressive predecessors. Every day presents a new and dynamic challenge as Ben is hammered by pressure from large stockholders to raise the price of the stock.
War-Mart's number-one-retailer ranking is threatened by the huge profits derived from oil companies. Ben is concerned to learn that two-man helicopters are being manufactured for the oil industry in a nearby city. He realizes that the company's satellite dish field, which transports and supplies goods to the worldwide store network, is vulnerable to an air attack.
Additional problems crop up for the young CEO when the vice president of the company, left over from the former CEO's regime, begins soliciting the support of his former boss and board members to take back control at the forthcoming annual stockholder's meeting. The corporate executive courier alerts Ben to the plan, and he works to find a way to thwart the takeover.
Ben is faced with the need for a more environmentally friendly image, demonstrations by "mom and pop" store owners, a walkout of the store's butchers, and the forced firing of his only female department head after a charity fundraiser goes astray. The CEO desperately works to restore profit growth by soliciting his administrative assistant, Ms. Happi, to harness the country's female buying power.
Will Ben succeed in putting War-Mart back on the right track, or will he lose his power to internal enemies and outside competitors? Find out in the shocking conclusion of this hilarious novel that strikes a familiar chord for anyone in the corporate world.
